The Drafts feature lets you write, save, and reuse important work inside a case, while giving the AI access to additional context only when it’s relevant.

NOTE: Drafts is currently in Beta. If you’d like early access enabled on your account or want to share feedback, contact support@casefleet.com.

What Are Drafts?

Drafts are saved documents you create and manage within Casefleet. They’re designed for work that evolves over time, such as:

  • Notes and outlines

  • Working memos

  • Analysis and research

  • AI-generated drafts (letters, discovery requests, etc.)

Drafts live in a dedicated Drafts tab in the main interface, where they can be viewed and edited at any time.

When you ask the AI to draft content, it may also prompt you to save that output to Drafts for future use.

How Drafts Extend AI Context

Case Instructions allow you to provide standing guidance to the AI, but not all background information is needed in every conversation.

Drafts provide a way to extend the AI’s effective memory without consuming context unnecessarily. Instead of repeating prior analysis or background, you can save that work as a draft and reference it only when it applies.

By linking drafts from Case Instructions, the AI can pull in that information selectively and respond with greater consistency and accuracy.

Linking Drafts to Case Instructions

You can link one or more drafts from Case Instructions so the AI knows when to reference them.

Steps:

  1. Open the chat and click Edit Case Instructions.

  2. Add a brief description of the draft (for example: Causation Analysis — comparison of Dr. Smith and Dr. Jones).

  3. Highlight the text, click the link icon in the toolbar, and enter the draft path using the format:

    /drafts/123

Replace 123 with the draft’s ID.

  4. Save your Case Instructions.

Once linked, the AI will automatically reference that draft when it’s relevant to your questions.

Using the AI to Create and Link Drafts

You can also ask the AI to manage drafts for you. This includes:

  • Linking an existing draft to Case Instructions

  • Creating a new draft with the intent of linking it for future reference

To support this workflow, the AI follows this standing instruction:

When you or the user produce something worth preserving (analysis, research, working notes, pasted emails or conversations), ask whether it should be saved as a draft and linked from Case Instructions for future reference. Respect the user’s answer for the remainder of the conversation.

How Drafts Fit Into Your Workflow

Over time, Drafts help build a persistent, case-specific knowledge base for the AI.

Rather than reintroducing background in each conversation, the AI:

  • Reviews your Case Instructions

  • Identifies linked drafts

  • Incorporates that information only when applicable

This allows conversations to continue from prior work, with less repetition and more continuity.
