What is AI Assistant?

The AI Assistant in Casefleet is a powerful chat-based feature designed to help you work more efficiently with large volumes of case documents. Whether you're reviewing pleadings, discovery materials, or correspondence, this assistant helps you uncover key information quickly and accurately, and assists with building out your case strategy.

The AI Assistant analyzes all of your case's uploaded source documents and provides responses with key excerpts and clickable citations that take you directly to the relevant information in your source documents.

Subscription Requirements

All AI-powered features in Casefleet require an AI-Enhanced subscription (usage-based billing). If you're interested in accessing this feature, please reach out to a human agent through in-app chat or email support@casefleet.com to request that the feature be enabled for your account.

Accessing the AI Assistant

You can open the AI Assistant in two ways:

  1. Click the AI chat icon in the top-right corner of the screen, available from anywhere within Casefleet

  2. Use the keyboard shortcut CTRL/CMD + ? to launch the assistant instantly

How Cases Work with AI Assistant

Casefleet's AI Assistant is designed to provide assistance with document review and case analysis, so each chat conversation is linked to a particular case file in your account.

  • Opening the chat within a case will automatically associate the chat to the current case

  • Launching from the dashboard or another area outside a specific case will prompt you to select a case before asking questions

This ensures that each conversation is restricted to a particular case file and access is limited to only the appropriate case data.

Starting Your First Conversation

Once the AI Assistant window is open, simply type your question into the input field. The AI Assistant will:

  1. Search and analyze all of the case's uploaded source documents

  2. Return a response with key excerpts from relevant documents

  3. Provide clickable citations (when possible) that take you directly to where the information was found in the source document

What to Expect in AI Responses

When you ask a question, the AI Assistant will:

  • Provide relevant information based on your case documents

  • Include citations that link back to the original source material, wherever possible

  • Reference case data like facts, entities, issues, and tasks when applicable

Automatic Case Context

Once you start a new chat, the AI Assistant is automatically provided with updated statistics about your case, including the number of sources, facts, issues, and other case elements. This ensures that responses reflect the most recent state of your work.

The AI may also prompt you with questions to provide additional context about the case, such as:

  • What type of case you're working on

  • Who you represent

  • What your specific objectives are for the case

These details help shape the overall case strategy and improve the relevance of the AI's suggestions. Once established, this information is saved as part of the case context and will be referenced in future conversations.

Pro Tip: Tell the AI to remember key information about your case, and it will update it's case context data accordingly:
